Materials Requirements for Aerial Optical Cables

Aerial optical cables require optical fibers, protective jackets (typically polyethylene with UV protection), messenger strands (steel or dielectric), and installation hardware such as spacers, straps, and clamps.

Cable Construction Materials

  • Optical Fibers: The core component for data transmission, typically single-mode or multi-mode fibers.
  • Buffer Tubes: Protect fibers inside the cable, often made of plastic or gel-filled tubes to prevent moisture ingress.
