Core Switch H3C Routing Configuration

H3C core switch routing involves configuring VLAN interfaces, assigning IP addresses, setting up inter-VLAN routing, and defining static or dynamic routes to the egress router.

Management and VLAN Setup

1. Log in to the switch via console, SSH, or Telnet using a management VLAN (avoid VLAN 1 for security). Assign an IP address to the management VLAN interface or the dedicated management Ethernet interface for device access .
2. Create VLANs for different departments or network segments:

3. Assign IP addresses to VLAN interfaces to enable inter-VLAN routing:

3. Optional static routes for specific networks:

   ip route-static 192.168.30.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.100.2

DHCP Configuration (Optional)

• Configure DHCP pools on the core switch to assign IP addresses to clients in different VLANs:

  dhcp server ip-pool pool1[Switch-dhcp-pool1] network 192.168.10.0 mask 255.255.255.0[Switch-dhcp-pool1] gateway-list 192.168.10.1 dhcp server ip-pool pool2[Switch-dhcp-pool2] network 192.168.20.0 mask 255.255.255.0[Switch-dhcp-pool2] gateway-list 192.168.20.1

Interface and Trunk Configuration

• Connect access switches to the core switch using trunk ports to carry multiple VLANs:

• For hybrid ports (access + trunk), configure accordingly to allow specific VLANs .

• Test connectivity between VLANs and to the egress router using ping.

• Use a dedicated management VLAN separate from user VLANs.
