Coiling the Fiber

  1. Use Fiber Protection Sleeves: After splicing, slide a heat-shrink or protective sleeve over the joint to protect it from mechanical stress .
  2. Plan the Layout: Route fibers in the splice tray carefully. Internal pigtails are typically routed counterclockwise, while external fibers are routed clockwise. Avoid pulling fibers tightly; let them follow their natural curve .
  3. Maintain Proper Bending Radius: Ensure the bending radius is at least ten times the fiber diameter and not less than 30mm to prevent breakage or signal loss .
  4. Coiling Method: Coil fibers one by one after splicing. Start from the middle and then coil both sides, or start from one end and coil sequentially. Adjust the placement according to the reserved tray space and fiber length .
  5. Secure the Fiber: Use adhesive cable tie seats or clips to fix the coiled fiber in place. Avoid overtightening, which can damage the fiber .
