Application in Higher-Count Cables

When cables contain more than 12 fibers, the 12-color sequence repeats. For example, in a 24-fiber cable, fibers 13–24 use the same colors but may include ring marks or stripes to distinguish the second set of 12 fibers . In ribbon or tube-based designs, the outer tube may also be color-coded, and the inner fibers follow the same 12-color sequence .

Multimode vs Single-Mode Jackets

• Single-mode (OS2): Typically has a yellow jacket.
• Multimode (OM3/OM4): Jackets are usually aqua (OM3) or erika violet/aqua (OM4).
• OM5: Uses a lime green jacket for wideband multimode applications . The fiber color sequence inside the cable remains consistent regardless of jacket color, ensuring proper identification during termination or MPO/MTP connector assembly.
