How to fix the fiber optic ground in ODF

Properly grounding fiber optic cables in an ODF involves connecting the armored core to a grounding bar, securing it with clamps, and ensuring reliable contact to prevent interference and signal degradation.

Step-by-Step Procedure

1. Prepare the Optical Cable

  • Lead the optical cable to the fixing plate on the rear side of the ODF .
  • Cut approximately 1 meter of the cable end and strip the outer jacket to expose the armored steel tape and metal reinforced core . 2. Connect the Ground Wire
  • Insert the barbed end of the ground wire into the stripped position of the optical cable.
  • Wrap the connection tightly with insulating film to ensure firm contact between the armored steel tape and the ground wire . 3. Secure the Metal Reinforced Core
  • Cut the metal reinforced core to about 85 mm in length from the stripped position.
  • Fix the core onto the steel wire fixing seat of the ODF.
  • Tighten the optical cable using a hose clamp to stabilize the connection . 4. Protect the Cable
  • Replace the stripped optical cable bundle tube with a PVC protective hose.
  • Place the pre-disc on the take-up area and introduce the fusion splice disc.
  • Fix the PVC protective hose on the fusion splice disc using cable ties to prevent movement or damage . 5. Complete Fiber Termination
  • Lead the fiber pigtail to the adapter on the ODF and secure it with cable ties on the fusion splice disc.
  • Protect the fusion splice point with a heat-shrinkable tube and fix it in the tube holder .

Best Practices

  • Ensure all fiber optic cables and equipment are properly grounded to avoid electrical interference .
  • Maintain a minimum bend radius for all fibers to prevent signal loss .
  • Regularly inspect and clean connectors to maintain optimal signal quality .
  • Label all fibers and grounding points clearly for future maintenance . By following these steps, the fiber optic ground in an ODF will be securely fixed, minimizing the risk of signal degradation and ensuring compliance with standard installation practices.
